The Banshee's official name is the Type-26 Ground Support Aircraft. Banshee rolls off the tongue much easier.
The Banshee is a personal aerial assault craft used by the Covenant. It's equipped with two wings, a propulsion jet, and an anti-gravity pod that's responsible for that vaporous exhaust trail we all know and love. The vehicle can reach over 100 km/h, with a flight ceiling of round 100-300 meters. Because of this low flight ceiling, the Banshee is vulnerable to anti-aircraft fire. Small arms can disrupt and injure the pilot and larger weapons like the rocket launcher and missile pod can destroy the aircraft.
Like the Covenant Ghost, it's extremely maneuverable. It's able to perform feats like lateral rolls and vertical flips, all of which are extremely handy when under fire.
The Banshee is always seen being driven by Brutes or Elites in combat situations. I'll talk about the aircraft's combat ability next week in part two.
