This week I wrap up the Mongoose feature by talking about its various appearances in the series, as well as some trivia. Everyone loves trivia.

The Mongoose is featured in four levels of the Halo 3 single player campaign: The Storm, The Ark, The Covenant, and Halo. It's featured abundantly in Halo 3 multiplayer, appearing by default on 11 maps, but can also be added to other maps using the Forge editor.

Bungie originally intended to put the Mongoose in Halo 2, but a flurry of problems kept it from happening. They couldn't get the physics right, so it flipped too easily. They attempted to add dual machine guns, but it turned out too unbalanced for gameplay. Lastly, the early prototype couldn't hold passengers, which made it fairly useless.

The PC modding community have successfully inserted the Mongoose into Halo 2 and certain maps from Halo: Custom Edition.

The Legendary Map Pack map Avalanche contains a "Snow-goose", a snow camouflaged Mongoose.

While fans refer to multiple vehicles as Mongeese or Mongi, the correct collective noun is actually Mongooses.

If you honk the Mongoose horn for long enough, it will go silent for a while. That's what you get for being obnoxious!

Earlier renders of the Mongoose showed different concepts: three wheels, heavier armor, and bigger seats.

All of this talk of Mongooses makes me want to get my Mongoose on right now.
