When this guy talks, you listen.
Gearbox president Randy Pitchford loves Bungie, as well as Call of Duty 4 developer Infinity Ward. He also loves their respective franchises; he just wants something different.
In an interview at E3, Pitchford expressed that while he loves Halo and Call of Duty, he'd like to see what else the developers can do. But at the same time, he understands why they're not exploring new ground.
“The folks that are innovating need to be rewarded so that the folks that are making big bets can take that risk. It’s too big of a risk for Infinity Ward to do anything but what they’re doing, because there’s too much value and there’s really big scope for it.”
I, for one, want the two developers to forego sleep completely, so that they can simultaneously develop new Halos and Call of Duties while also working on new IPs.
