The M274 Ultra-Light All-Terrain Vehicle - more commonly known as the Mongoose - is a UNSC vehicle that made its debut in Halo 3. Hit the jump to read about the Mongoose's build and mobility.

The Mongoose is a reconnaissance vehicle that doesn't have any onboard weaponry, though whoever rides behind the driver can fire his or her weapon.

Along with the Warthog, the Mongoose is very fast and extremely maneuverable. The Warthog actually has a higher top speed, but the Mongoose has a faster acceleration.

In CTF, much like the Warthog, the passenger can hold the flag. This makes the vehicle idea for this mode. One advantage it has over the Warthog is that it's physically smaller, making it harder to hit. However, the vehicle's speed and small size make it easy to tip, so you may pose more of a threat to yourself than the enemy would.

If you manage to splatter someone with a Mongoose in a ranked free for all game, you'll get the Mongoose Mowdown Achievement. This isn't an easy task. The Mongoose's excessive mobility makes it somewhat inaccurate and its light mass makes it tricky to actually kill a target on impact. Landing anything but a direct hit will usually leave the target alive.

Check back next week for more on the vehicle's mobility.
