Daniel Petric, the teenager who killed his mother and wounded his father when they wouldn't let him play Halo 3, was found guilty when a judge decided that his supposed addiction to Halo 3 was not a defense.
In late December, Petric pleaded momentary insanity and his lawyer argued that the teenager's unhealthy addiction to videogames caused him to act out in the way he did. Petric then waived the right to a jury trial, leaving the decision up to a judge. That decision came today when the teenager was convicted of aggravated murder and attempted aggravated murder, among other charges.
While this is a tragic situation, it's good to see common sense win out. My thoughts go out to the kid's family, especially his father.
