A lot of players have their niche weapons. Some are devastingly good with the rocket launcher. Some have masterful aim with the sniper rifle. And some are unstoppable with the plasma sword. However, for us average joes - everyman, if you will - there's always the Battle Rifle and the Carbine.
In a lot of ways, the Battle Rife and the Carbine are perfect weapons. While certain situations call for certain types of firepower, these two rifles are simply well-rounded tools of destruction that can always hold their own. But which weapon is more perfect? Alright, that sentence didn't make any sense, but stay with me here.
Both weapons are extremely accurate and can do a lot of damage from far away. With some practice, it's entirely possible to give a sniper a run for his or her money.
If consistent head shots are landed, the Carbine can take down an opponent faster than the Battle Rifle, due to its slightly faster rate of fire, despite the BR's burst fire. Note that this is only in the hands of an expert marksman. The Carbine is actually weaker than the Battle Rifle, making the latter the better choice for spraying (and simultaneous praying).
One major downside to the Carbine is that it's nearly impossible to remain hidden when using it. Between the yellow-green trail left by each shot, the distinct noise firing makes, and the green mist that it releases when reloading, the Battle Rifle is far superior for Stealth.
When you break it down, it's really hard to choose a clear winner. Out of all the comparisons I've done so far, this is by far the closest. However, I'd have to go with the Battle Rifle. The stronger firepower allows more room to miss and the BR magazine holds twice the ammo that the Carbine does.
