Bungie posted their weekly update and, as usual, here are the highlights:

Tyson "Ferrex" Green, Halo 3's lead multiplayer designer, gives an extensive update concerning the new playlists that are going to hit in the next coming weeks. He actually typed this over dinner! What a trooper!

They're well into testing the new playlist that will be available on December 11th (along with the heroic map pack). As stated before, this will include a playlist specifically for the DLC maps, so you'll be able to jump right if you so desire. He also states that they're "reasonably sure" that variety updates for all the playlists will be included, and these will feature things like wider map selection in ranked playlists.

However, if they don't get everything finished in time for the December 11th update, another update is scheduled for the 18th. This second update will include the team hardcore playlist, of which he will go into details about later. They're trying to stay true to Halo 2's team hardcore playlist, which is always good news. An overhaul for team objective is also in the works, and the new playlist will focus on CTF (both single and multi) and assault game types.

They're also bringing in a new playlist called Team Control, which will focus on control variants such as territories, land grab, and team king of the hill.

Lastly, look for a ranked BTB playlist sometime in the coming year.

Tyson finishes by asking everyone to be patient as Bungie is also working on other things, plus everyone is off for the holiday break.

The latter half of the update is Frankie's impressions of the new maps and - surprise! - he loves them.

Have a good weekend!
